The Board of Directors of the HorseThief Reservoir Benefit District made the decision to take the bond issue proposal to the voters at an  election held on April 5, 2005.

The voters in the 4-county Benefit District approved the sales tax.  (Hodgeman, Finney, Ford and Gray counties)  The bonds will be retired using a 15/100th of 1% sales tax levied in those counties.

The sales tax funding was chosen to not further burden property owners in our area, and allow the project to be funded by a wider base of taxpayers, including visitors to our area.

Using conservative estimates, the bonds will retire in about 14 years, and the sales tax will cease (sunset).
